Why Welsh?

A number of people choose to learn the language simply because they enjoy a new challenge. You will soon discover that the language is alive and kicking in most communities across Wales, and speaking the language will open doors to a number of new opportunities and experiences.

GCSE Welsh

Our GCSE Welsh Second Language specification will enable learners to understand and use the language for a variety of purposes and audiences.

​

It will develop learners’ language learning skills and strategies in order to enable them to communicate and interact confidently and spontaneously in relevant situations and specified contexts.

A-Level Welsh

​

Our AS/A Level Welsh Second Language specification has been designed to encourage learners to study Welsh with interest, enjoyment and enthusiasm.

​

It aims to develop the learner’s ability to communicate correctly and fluently both orally and in writing within a wide range of situations and contexts.
