Why Biology?

Biology gives you an in-depth understanding of the natural world. It also helps you learn how to conduct research, problem-solve, organise, and think critically.


You’ll find that biology opens the door to many exciting opportunities. Whether you’re interested in working with the environment, agriculture, wildlife, botany, laboratory services, or other science-related careers, you’ll find you’ll have many options to pursue within the discipline.

GCSE Biology

Our GCSE Biology specification provides a broad, coherent, satisfying and worthwhile course of study.

It encourages learners to develop confidence in, and a positive attitude towards, Biology and to recognise its importance in their own lives and to society. 

A-Level Biology

Our AS/A level Biology specification provides learners with a wide breadth of knowledge that touches on many varied aspects of a range of topics.

These include the internal workings of organisms in physiology and the interdependence of living things in ecology, to social issues including human influence on the environment and the ethical considerations of genetics.
