Modern Foreign Languages (MFL)
At Redhill High School Pembrokeshire, we believe that learning a modern foreign language opens doors to the wider world and enriches students’ understanding of other cultures. Our language provision fosters communication, confidence, and curiosity about global perspectives.
Students study French and Spanish from Year 7, developing skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing through engaging and interactive lessons. Both languages are taught by experienced subject specialists who ensure students gain a strong foundation in vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation.
At GCSE, students follow the Eduqas specification for both French and Spanish. This qualification allows them to apply their language skills to real-life contexts, exploring topics such as identity, culture, and global citizenship. The course places equal emphasis on the four key skills — listening, speaking, reading, and writing — and encourages students to use the target language with confidence and accuracy.
Through cultural projects, trips, and language enrichment activities, students experience the real-world application of their learning, inspiring them to communicate effectively and appreciate the diversity of the global community.
