Welsh
Redhill High School Pembrokeshire, we are proud to promote the Welsh language and culture as an integral part of our school community. Learning Welsh not only strengthens students’ understanding of their national identity but also enhances communication skills and cultural awareness.
Welsh is compulsory in Year 7, ensuring that all students gain a foundation in the language from the start of their secondary education. Lessons focus on developing confidence in listening, speaking, reading, and writing, with an emphasis on practical communication and everyday use.
From Year 8 onwards, Welsh becomes an optional subject, allowing students who wish to continue to build upon their skills and deepen their appreciation of Welsh heritage and contemporary society.
Through interactive lessons, cultural activities, and celebrations of Welsh traditions, we aim to foster enthusiasm, respect, and pride in Wales’s rich linguistic and cultural heritage.
