History

At Redhill High School Pembrokeshire, the study of History helps students understand how the past has shaped the world we live in today. We aim to inspire curiosity, critical thinking, and a deep appreciation of human experience across time and place.

In the Lower School (Years 7–9), students follow a broad and engaging historical journey covering the medieval, early modern, and industrial periods. Through this chronological study, pupils develop a secure understanding of key events, people, and ideas that have influenced British and global history. Lessons focus on evaluating evidence, forming balanced arguments, and understanding change and continuity over time.

At GCSE, students follow the Eduqas specification, which provides a challenging and thought-provoking course that builds on their earlier studies. Students explore a range of topics that include political, social, and international developments, and are encouraged to think critically about historical sources and interpretations.

Throughout all stages, History at Redhill promotes independent inquiry, debate, and the ability to connect the past to contemporary issues — helping students become thoughtful, informed citizens.
